Trees of Life
wooden book 625 x 420 mm
Carvings on the front and back covers represent Black Poplar and Oak, and on the inside covers are depictions of Chestnut and Yew fused into the wood by the use of pyography. Simply finished with a beeswax polish to enhance the natural beauty of the wood.
The pages of the book are beginning to take shape with the county's Kent Heritage Tree Surveyors bringing magnificent trees to our attention. As stories unfold and trees are discovered, new pages will be added and a larger book will be presented each year. The girth of this wooden tome will grow over the five years of this project, as though mirroring the addition of new rings of a tree, with each new page, until the completed book holds it's final selection of the very best of Kent's Heritage Trees which will be unveiled in 2016.
The book will be on display at BTCV's Kent Head Office at the Singleton Environment Centre in Ashford.
